2017 Nick Misisco Award Announcement


Nick Misisco was a leader in the broadcast and media industry who actively donated his time, skills, and energy to several non-profits across BC including NABS. With a career spanning several decades in the broadcast industry, Nick greatly impacted the marketing, advertising and broadcast community.

The Nick Misisco Award is awarded annually at the NABS West Golf Tournament. It is presented to anyone who, like Nick, has embodied the NABS cause and has gone above and beyond in their support of NABS and in-turn the industry as a whole. Without supporters like Nick Misisco, the services and support that NABS offers would not be possible.


The recipient of this year’s NICK award is Alvin Chow, VP National Advertising Sales, Western Canada Glacier Media. Alvin is a respected Industry professional & leader who exemplifies the true spirit and meaning of NABS in all that he does.

Agency industry executive Jay Bertram to lead not-for-profit National Advertising Benevolent Society


The Board of the National Advertising Benevolent Society today announced, after an extensive search, the appointment of agency executive Jay Bertram as its Executive Director, effective April 18th, 2017.

Jay is a well-known and respected leader in the Canadian marketing and communications industry, having led TBWA in Canada for well over a decade and most recently TBWA Latin America for three years.Prior to that Jay held multiple senior leadership positions at Cossette.Having worked with some of the biggest global brands – Nissan, Pepsico, Microsoft, VISA, Petro Canada and McDonalds, to name a few - he has amassed unparalleled experience in all facets of the industry that NABS serves.

Jeremy Gayton elected as Chair of NABS Canada’s Board of Directors


The National Advertising Benevolent Society of Canada (NABS) is pleased to announce that Jeremy Gayton has been elected as chair of NABS Canada’s Board of Directors. His three-year term is effective immediately.

Jeremy has been the President of advertising agency lg2 Toronto since 2014. Prior to that Jeremy spent 12 years at TAXI in numerous leadership roles including its Canadian President, and Chief Development Officer. He began his career in 1996 at Grey Canada. Jeremy is a proven leader who brings a wealth of experience to NABS Canada’s Board of Directors. In addition to his presence in the marketing and communications industry, Jeremy is a member of the Board of Covenant House Toronto, and Chair of its fundraising committee.

Frank Palmer Boosts 27th “NABS” Pro-Am Purse Up Over $10,000


In 1980 NABS launched its First Annual Golf Tournament to raise funds for those in need in Marketing & Communications industry. The event has since become one of the staple fundraising initiatives for their industry over the past 27 years. Fast forward some 24 years later, NABS and the Vancouver Golf Tour (VGT) joined forces on the 24th Annual FRANK PALMER NABS Invitational Golf Tournament.

The National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS) is pleased to share the inception of the Norman Vidler Memorial Fund in thanks and gratitude to an extremely generous donation by The Slaight Family Foundation in Norman (Gary) Vidler’s name.

The National Advertising Benevolent Society has announced that the 2014 Paul Mulvihill/NABS Heart Award has been presented to Brent Lowe-Bernie, President, comScore Canada Inc. The recognition was made at the charity’s annual Partner Appreciation event held on February 24, 2015. 18 Industry Climbers Reach the Top for NABS: Kilimanjaro Summit


NABS Canada announced today that its 18 climbers all reached new personal heights on January 17th, when they, after 7 long days of climbing, all reached the sunny, 19,300 foot summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Summit day was the longest, with a 5:30 a.m. start and a return to camp, 13 hours later! Adventurers were sponsored, corporate donations were made and in some cases, matching donations added to the funds raised. Commitments and accolades are still coming in.
